  • About the artist:

    Nazzareno D'Angelo (1928 - 2011)

Nazzareno D'Angelo was of italian descent, but born in Alexandria, Egypt. Although his studies were in Economics, he was accepted into Sampieri & Fils of Alexandria which is one of the largest galleries in Egypt. Shortly after his admittance into the gallery, he was appointed Master Painter.

While in Egypt he was commissioned to paint the murals around King Farouk’s palace. With an income of £400 per month at the time (around £17,000 per month in today's money- adjusted to inflation), he was a very highly paid artist in his time.

He immigrated to Great Britain during the 1950s due to the Suez Crisis (also known as the Second Arab–Israeli War) breaking out.
